Flight to Lukla (2860m) from Kathmandu and trek to Phakding (2610m) - 3/4 hours hike

Your adventure begins with a thrilling flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (2,860m). As you take off, you’ll feel a rush of excitement and anticipation, knowing that you’re heading into the heart of the Himalayas. The short flight offers breathtaking views of the rugged mountains and valleys below, setting the stage for your trek.

Upon landing in Lukla, the real journey begins. You’ll start your trek to Phakding (2,610m), walking through lush forests and charming Sherpa villages. Each step brings you closer to the breathtaking landscapes you’ve dreamt of. The trail winds alongside the Dudh Koshi River, and crossing its suspension bridges, adorned with colorful prayer flags, makes you feel a deep connection to the mountain spirit. As you arrive in Phakding, a serene village nestled by the river, you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and excitement for the adventure that lies ahead.

Note: Flights to Lukla depart from Manthali Airport, which is approximately a 5-6 hours’ drive from Kathmandu, during peak seasons like as March, April, May, September, October, and November.

There are frequently runway problems, bad weather, heavy airport traffic and delays or cancellations of flights to Lukla. It is advisable to extend your journey by one or two days if you intend to trek in the Everest region. In this manner, you will have ample time and won't miss your international flight in the event that your flight is delayed or cancelled.
