The city disappears within 20 minutes of the trailhead. Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park sits on Kathmandu's northern rim and is one of Nepal's least-visited parks despite being a 45-minute drive from Thamel. The Jamacho summit trail climbs through oak and rhododendron forest to a hilltop Buddhist monastery at 2,128m with unobstructed Himalayan views. A perfect acclimatisation hike before a high-altitude trek, or a calming nature day after Kathmandu's sensory overload.
